Hello HCA students, families and friends-We’re writing with the sad news that our dear friend, colleague and counselor Amanda Wogaman passed away yesterday evening. We all know the spirit that she lived with and taught with, and it hurts to now also know that she is gone.We think about her, her family, her friends, and the many students and faculty she impacted over her years as an educator. She was a strong advocate, a vibrant person and a fierce challenger of the status quo. As we continue to move through this school year together, we hold her with us through our activism, alliance and care for each other. Today, we will do our best to follow a regular school day schedule, with lots of support, opportunities to talk or be silent, and time together. Our students and staff will be moving through this tragic event together. We will all hold grace and space for each other. If you feel your student should stay home for the day, feel free to keep them. We acknowledge that we all have very different needs right now, and we’ll make it through this together. If students need a quiet space or support during the day, the libraries at each campus will be open.Together with all of you,Scott & MaeScott Barksdale, Head of SchoolMae Applegate, Dean of Studies & Students ... “I am just very appreciative for all the efforts to keep things as normal as possible, the willingness to make work loads a little easier, and the acknowledgement that everyone needs time to unplug. Thank you!”

“HCA was quick with their decision to shut down. Everyone has done a great job on keeping us informed and making the students and parents still feel like they are part of a community and family. I also love the structure of the online classes. Thanks for all HCA has done!”
