Hello HCA Students, Families & Friends,
“There can be no justice without peace, and there can be no peace without justice.” Dr. Martin Luther King
I think about these words of Dr. King’s often, and have found myself nodding as they crossed my mind this week. Peace and justice go together by necessity – one can’t exist in any true sense without the other.
So, we can hope that the trauma that many communities had to relive these past few weeks as justice was delivered for the murder of George Floyd is followed by a sense of peace for the members of those communities. And, by necessity, that we all keep doing our part to make sure justice continues alongside peace in our school and in our communities.
A Covid note: as Androscoggin County returns to the “yellow” designation this week, here are two reminders of HCA’s Covid-19 protocols:
- If your student has gathered indoors with members of more than 1 other household, they should not return to in person learning until 10 full days after that.
- If a student traveled outside of New England (states other than CT, MA, NH, RI, VT) over break, they must quarantine 10 days upon their return.
We look forward to seeing everyone in person or online on Monday.
Best,
Scott
