OCTOBER, 2020
Thomas Crimmins, an eleventh grader, decided to make two picnic tables and a chalk board for HCA for his Eagle Scout service project.
He thought of the project months before the pandemic but the timing with outdoor learning couldn’t have been better.
“I like building and creating and being able to call it my own”.
Most challenging? “Was the time it took to get it approved”.
Most satisfying? “Raising money for the materials by selling para cord bracelets that I made”.
“This experience opened up new hobbies and while building may not become a career it is interesting to look over plans and make adjustments. Fro example the chalk board was going to be on wheels but when that didn’t work I changed it to a sandwich board.”
HCA is very grateful for Thomas’ hard work and the addition of this fine furniture that is enhancing our outdoor classrooms!
